For students

This one is for you, not your parents

If someone has shown you this page, they think you might like it. Here is what actually happens, with nothing dressed up.

You do not have to be on camera

Live sessions are on Google Meet. You can keep your camera off and your microphone muted and type in the chat instead. Nobody will ask you why, and nobody will put you on the spot.

If you miss a session, it is recorded. You can watch it later and catch up without having to explain yourself.

Your week

TuesdayTwo hours live. Watch a demo, then try it yourself.
ThursdayTwo hours live on the practical skill of the week.
FridayTwenty minutes, just you and your tutor.
Rest of itFilming your practical work and uploading it. Do it when you want.
Your kit

Everything arrives in a box, and you keep it

You do not have to buy anything else or borrow from anyone.

Training head and clamp

Cutting and styling tools

Skincare and beauty products

Workbook and kit bag

Placeholder kit images. Real photography to follow.

Where it goes

A year from now

You will have a portfolio of work you filmed yourself, a certificate from KINGS, and a set of skills people pay for.

Plenty of our learners go on to take a VTCT qualification at the Queensferry academy. Some go into a salon as an apprentice. Some just find out they are good at something, which is not a small thing.

Salon assistant

Working alongside stylists, learning on the floor.

VTCT NVQ or VRQ

The recognised route into hairdressing or beauty therapy.

Apprenticeship

Earning while you train, in a salon near you.
