KINGS Virtual Campus Diploma in Hair & Beauty
A full academic year of hairdressing and beauty training, taught live from Queensferry and worked through at home. Learners build a portfolio of filmed practical work and finish with a KINGS certificate of completion.

Six units across the year
Working safely and professionally
Hygiene, sanitising tools, working safely at home, and what professional conduct means in a salon.
Hair care and shampooing
Hair and scalp types, products and their purpose, and washing and conditioning technique on the training head.
Styling and blow drying
Sectioning, tension and heat control. Building three finished looks from start to finish.
Skincare and facial treatments
Skin types and conditions, cleansing routines, and a basic facial performed step by step.
Nail care and finish
Nail anatomy, file shapes, cuticle care and a full polish application.
The industry and your next step
Salon roles, apprenticeships, client care, and putting the portfolio together.
Unit content is indicative and will be confirmed before the September 2026 intake.
Two live sessions, one check in, and work in between
Tuesday
Live session
Two hours on Google Meet. Demonstration, then practise along with the group.
Thursday
Live session
Two hours on the week's practical skill, with time to ask questions.
Friday
One to one
Twenty minutes with their educator to look at the week's evidence and set the next task.

Around three hours of recorded lessons, written work and filming practical tasks.

Every learner gets the same professional kit, delivered directly to the learner's home before the course starts. It is theirs to keep.

How it is delivered
Everything in one place
The course runs in Google Classroom. Lessons, tasks, deadlines and marked work all sit there, so you can see what has been set and what has been handed in.

What they finish with
A KINGS certificate of completion, and a portfolio to show for it
This course is not currently accredited by an awarding body. Learners who complete the year receive a certificate of completion issued by Kings Academy, together with the portfolio of filmed practical work they have built.
We say this plainly because it matters. What the year gives a young person is the skills, the habit of turning up, and a genuine head start on a VTCT NVQ or VRQ qualification, which many of our learners go on to take at the Queensferry campus.
Before you enrol
Does my child need to be on camera?
No. They can keep the camera off and take part through the chat. Practical work is filmed and uploaded afterwards, so it is not live and it can be redone.
What if they miss a session?
Every live session is recorded and sits in Google Classroom. Nobody is asked to explain an absence before they can rejoin, though persistent absence is something we will call you about.
Is the course accredited?
Not currently. Learners finish with a KINGS certificate of completion and a portfolio of practical work. Kings Academy itself is recognised by V.T.C.T, the NHF Federation, the Education Workforce Council, Beauty Industry Approval and Welsh Government.
Can this replace school?
It is designed to sit alongside or within alternative provision, not to replace a full timetable. If your local authority or school is arranging provision, talk to them before enrolling.
What do we need at home?
A device with a camera, an internet connection and somewhere to work. Everything else is in the kit we post out. If any of that is a problem, tell us on the call.
What if we need to stop partway through?
Tell us. We will cancel the remaining Direct Debit collections in line with the refunds and cancellation policy. The kit is yours to keep.
